Vision and Mission: The Statements

1.Our Vision:The ELCRN AIDS Programme [ELCAP] is a source of Faith, Hope and Love for our brothers and sisters and children, who live with HIV and AIDS and those who are affected in our congregations and communities and our nation at-large.

2.Our Mission: The Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Republic of Namibia (ELCRN) has the mission to evangelize her members on all aspects of life. Hence, the Church has established the ELCRN AIDS Programme with the vision to respond to the present AIDS crisis by enabling ELCRN Congregations, and communities to become sources of FAITH, HOPE and LOVE.

3.Our Goal: The goal of ELCAP is to help prevent HIV infections, to reduce vulnerability to HIV, toadvocate and improve the provision of treatment, care and support for people living with HIV/AIDS and to mitigate the socio-economic impact of HIV/AIDS on affected individuals, families, communities and the nation.

4.Our Objectives: ELCRN Synod determined that a comprehensive approach to HIV/AIDS should be undertaken with focus on:

· The reduction of the number of new infections (prevention).

· The provisions of care and support, including advocacy for treatment.

· The mitigation of the social, political and economic impact of the epidemic

(a continuum of care, prevention and the mitigation of the impact of HIV/AIDS, should be considered as a whole, and belong together in the reality of the people who are affected..)
