Wuppertal in Namibia
Marie Krah and Jonathan Thielen are two vibrant young adults with a passion for the ELCAP project. Sent by the United Evangelical Mission (UEM) in Wuppertal, Germany, their vision is to help the sick and those in need and to learn from them, the different cultures. Marie and Jonathan arrived on August 19, 2009, fresh after High School. Ready to tackle the world, they decided to volunteer before pursuing their studies. Jonathan is interested in the study of Arabic languages and Journalism and Marie is interested in becoming a teacher. ELCAP is blessed to be part of the NGO’s who receive Volunteers who transfer skills, empowering and at the same time helping out where they can. The two volunteers will be staying for one year.
ELCAP has recently had two very welcomed visits from our Partners from Germany, Wuppertal.
The first group, Arbeitskreis keetmanshoop, arrived on the October 14, 2009 and was represented by members a combination of different congregations in Wuppertal who are supporting the Keetmanshoop circuit, south of Namibia. This visit was to see the projects that are funded by them, the progresses, benefits and needs. The second group - arrived on the October 12, 2009 - consisted of a Reverend and four other youth members from the Elberfeld-Südstadt congregation, Wuppertal. We are very much great full for these two visits and also for their unlimited support towards the ELCAP Project. The Partners from Wuppertal serve a very important purpose in the work of the ELCAP Program, their undivided support, has made this program what it is today.

What is your immune system?
The immune system is your body’s ways of avoiding and curing most kinds of sicknesses. There are many kinds of sicknesses. Your immune system is not just in your blood. It is also your skin, the acids in your stomach, and any other part of your body that tries to stop sickness from getting into, or staying inside, your body.
Cells
Your body has many small living parts called cells. Every cell has a job to do. During pregnancy, some cells get together and build the heart; another group builds the lungs, your skin, the brain, and your bones. Every single part of your body is built with cells. When cells get tired or old, they die. Your body makes more cells to take their place. This is why you need to eat good foods, so that your body has the things it needs to make these new and strong cells. For example, to build new muscles in your body, your body needs you to eat foods such as meat, fish, and beans (proteins). Your stomach and lungs are like factories that receive food, air, and water, and change them into building materials for the rest of your body. Some cells stay in the same place all the time-like the ones that make up your heart- while other cells travel through the body, such as your blood.
